Game Designer - Meta

Summary:

The Horizon Team at Meta is building a social User Generated Content (UGC) platform where people can find people, places, and things they care about -- a Metaverse without constraints where people have freedom of identity and expression and can experience living virtual worlds that could not exist in the real world. We are driven to create a safe and compelling metaverse for never-ending exploration -- our journey is just the beginning, come join us.As a Game Designer on the Meta Horizon team, you will work with designers, artists, engineers, product managers and more to prototype, design, and ship first-party content across Horizon Worlds. You will explore innovative new experiences, layouts, mechanics, and systems that facilitate and enable social connections and utilize best practices from VR, MR, desktop, and mobile.

Required Skills:

Game Designer Responsibilities:

1. Design end-to-end experiences with satisfying and novel core mechanics, loops, level layouts, and systems

2. Contribute to strategic decisions, working with the Creative and Product teams

3. Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders

4. Give and solicit real time feedback from other creatives to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product

5. Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers, content strategist & QA, overseeing the implementation of the user experience from product conception to launch - as well as post-launch design support

6. Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads including user research, data science, and product management

7. Advocate for game design and help us build a great, welcoming, and inclusive game design community within Reality Labs and throughout Meta

Minimum Qualifications:

8. 4+ years of game design experience or a minimum of 1 shipped title on any platform that have been successful (highly rated, critically acclaimed, award-winning, etc.)

9. Experience with 3D development engines such as Unity or Unreal

10. Experience leading end-to-end development efforts and designing games from concept to launch and live ops

11. Experience coordinating and collaborating with diverse cross functional teams to bring a vision to life

12. Experience in design strategy and vision, but also fluency in executing such as tuning the feel of the game or low fidelity prototyping

13. A portfolio that features some games you have prototyped or shipped, and showcases your game design skills

15. General design knowledge across a range of design specializations

16. Knowledge of 3D art and visual design principles

17. Experience utilizing research and data to drive strategy and decision making

Public Compensation:

$135,000/year to $194,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
