Job Description
Purpose:
The Director, Finance, is responsible for a full range of controllership responsibilities for their function. The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning and analysis for including preparing the annual operating plan, quarterly forecasts, long range plans, and reporting out the monthly financial results. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial planning and analysis.
Responsibilities:
+ Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the overall business objectives and plans to achieve financial goals.
+ Provide meaningful, transparent and value-added analysis and counsel management to influence and directly support decision-making and development of business strategies and tactics that maximize our profitability and long-term success.
+ Provide reporting for internal stakeholders such as C-suite executives to support e.g., track performance against objectives, gearing and target setting, identifying trends, and aligning performance to overall goals factoring in external influences and market analysis alongside internal data.
+ Develop and manage the planning and analysis for their organization. This includes budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to provide insights into the organization’s performance.
+ Attract top talent, train and develop staff to meet best in class industry/professional standards, motivate and retain key talent, drive operational improvements to realize lean/efficient operations, and develop sustainable organizations to achieve long term high performance.
+ Anticipate and identify business issues (including performance gaps, opportunities and emerging needs) for senior management and develop appropriate action plans to maximize business profitability and performance against key metrics.
+ Lead all financial cycles for their function. Develop financial plans/forecasts (including annual plans/updates, LRP’s, LBE’s) that are accurate, well written and professionally presented for senior management review, and properly supported.
+ Assure compliance with AbbVie CFM’s and GAAP and the integrity of our financial planning, reporting and analysis and related processes. Ensure the organization has appropriate documentation of processes and controls to effectively operation through internal controls and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements.
+ Implement ongoing continuous improvement within span of control including establishment of processes to ensure compliance with existing cycle time and quality initiatives and driving continuous improvement in close related processes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related area.
+ 10+ years of financial experience in the areas of financial analysis, cost accounting, auditing and/or treasury.
+ 5+ years of experience at the manager level in these same disciplines.
+ Strong organization, communication and management skills are essential in this position.
+ Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
+ MBA, CPA/CA credential, ideally through time spent in Big 4/external audit firm; understanding of US GAAP/IFRS; and/or CMA.
+ Combination of Big 4/external audit and established company experience and perspectives, ideally including both corporate/HQ and business facing roles.
+ Diversified financial function experience, including depth and breadth of capability across not only technical accounting and controls (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, revenue recognition) and internal and external reporting, but also deep exposure to FP&A as well as experience in commercial finance, operations finance, internal audit, tax, and/or treasury.
+ Knowledge of or prior experience in a highly regulated environment such as pharmaceutical, medical device, or specialty chemical.
+ Biopharma Industry Domain Knowledge; Commercialization & Market Access:; Market access strategies and health economics, Pricing and reimbursement in different markets, Launch planning and execution, Lifecycle management of pharmaceutical products.
