Position Description:
We are seeking a Funding Analyst who will assist in the daily management of a $30.0 billion debt and off-balance sheet derivatives portfolio under the guidance of the Director of Funding and Hedging. Provides assistance in the formulation and execution of debt and derivatives strategies. Additional responsibilities include funding and liquidity analysis, financial forecasting, variance analysis, and preparation of the bank's financial plan. This position will provide analytical support and serve as a backup for other positions in the financial management department.
Day-to Day-Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary back-up to the Director - Funding and Hedging
- Assists in the daily management of the bank's debt and derivatives portfolios. Executes debt issuances and derivative transactions on behalf of the bank. Monitors the compliance of these financial instruments with established policies, procedures and regulations.
- Develops, recommends for approval, and implements debt and derivative strategies that support the bank's asset/liability management objectives.
- Assists in the daily management of liquidity position through debt structuring to comply with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Produces monthly reporting on funding and derivatives activities for bank management.
- Supports development and maintenance of computer models related to debt management.
- Provides backup support for the Loan Pricing process
- Understands the bank's transfer pricing process
- Produces rate sheets for district associations and other financial institutions.
- Provides support to associations on loan pricing related issues
- Provides ad hoc analytical support for other internal and external departments
- Performs special project work as directed by the VP, Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer.
What You Bring to the Team:
Bachelor's degree with a major in finance, accounting, business administration or economics and seven (7) or more years of experience in liquidity and debt management, interest rate risk management, financial analysis, financial planning or financial reporting. MBA or CFA designation highly desirable.
Basic knowledge of analysis related to measuring and reporting interest rate risk positions. Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Ability to communicate/coordinate effectively with all levels of management as well as with outside vendors; Ability to exercise sound judgment, use discretion and maintain confidentiality. A minimal degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Ability to work with moderate supervision and to travel on a moderate basis. Skill in oral and written communication. Beginner to average level in Microsoft Office applications. Possesses analytical thinking and mathematical skills. Ability to work as part of a team.
