Fund Accounting Manager - Selectemp

Our client, located in Fairfield County, is looking for an experienced Fund Accountant/Controller to join their team.  The ideal candidate will have a combination of financial oversight, accounting responsibilities, and management of day-to-day operations within the private equity fund.

Responsibilities:

1. Financial Oversight:

   • Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
   • Monitor fund performance and financial metrics, providing analysis and insights to support decision-making.

2. Fund Accounting:

   • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for the private equity fund.
   • Oversee the preparation of capital call and distribution calculations.
   • Ensure accurate and timely recording of investment transactions, valuations, and reconciliations.

3. Reporting and Compliance:

   • Coordinate with external auditors and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
   • Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports as required.

4. Risk Management:

   • Identify and assess financial risks associated with fund activities.
   • Implement and maintain internal controls to mitigate risks and ensure financial integrity.

5. Team Management:

   • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support.
   • Collaborate with other departments, such as legal and operations, to ensure seamless fund administration.

6. Technology and Process Improvement:

   • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to streamline accounting processes.
   • Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.

Qualifications:

1. Educational Background:

   • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
   • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CFA) is often preferred.

2. Experience:

   • Several years of experience in fund accounting within the private equity industry.
   • Experience in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance.

3. Technical Skills:

   • Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
   • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.

4. Communication Skills:

   • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
   • Ability to explain complex financial concepts to various stakeholders.

5. Analytical Skills:

   • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
   • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

6. Leadership and Teamwork:

   • Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team.
   • Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
