Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fund Analyst for a temporary / contract assignment. This position plays a critical role in managing, analyzing, and reporting on the financial performance of various funds, including operating, capital, and restricted funds. The Fund Analyst will work closely with senior management to ensure that financial resources are allocated efficiently, in compliance with regulations, and aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Monitor and track fund activity, including revenue, expenditures, and transfers, for various healthcare system funds.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for different funds, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and healthcare regulations.
- Provide detailed variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual fund balances, offering actionable insights for senior management.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of fund budgets, ensuring alignment with overall financial goals and operational objectives of the healthcare system.
- Collaborate with department heads to review fund allocations and prepare forecasts based on historical trends and future expectations.
- Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies, relating to the management of healthcare system funds.
- Work closely with the internal audit team to ensure funds are properly managed and that all relevant documentation and reports are prepared in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines.
- Fund Allocation & Optimization:
- Analyze and recommend improvements for fund allocation, ensuring resources are used efficiently to support healthcare operations and services.
- Support the identification of opportunities for fund optimization across the system, balancing financial sustainability with operational needs.
- Internal Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Partner with other departments (e.g., clinical, operations, administration) to understand their funding needs and ensure that funds are allocated appropriately to support department goals.
- Assist in the preparation of financial presentations and reports for leadership and other stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or fund management, preferably within the healthcare or non-profit sectors.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of healthcare financial operations, including revenue cycle, reimbursement systems, cost accounting, and compliance regulations (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid).
- Skills:
- Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting techniques.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
