Our client, a non-profit organization located in Charleston, SC, is looking for a full-time Full-charge Bookkeeper. Ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience, non-profit experience a plus. The Organization has specialized reporting requirements that the candidate must gain an understanding of and comply with. This process requires significant attention to detail.
Position Responsibilities:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for all accounting activities including but not limited to the following:
- Processing and recording cash receipts, cash disbursements, and payroll;
- Recognizing, recording and depreciating fixed assets;
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations;
- Month-end processes to be completed by the 15th of the following month;
- Balance and maintain accurate ledger and trial balance;
- Prepare financial reports for monthly Board meetings;
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax filings (federal and state);
- Prepare and file Forms 1099-MISC and/or 1099-NEC, as appropriate; and
- Provide all requested information for annual financial statement audit to external independent audit firm.
Position Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years experience working in A/P, A/R, G/L, payroll and payroll reporting;
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred but not required;
- Experience with accounting software applications, recordkeeping and computer operation;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word;
- Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills; and
- Ability to prioritize tasks, problem solve and adapt to change.
