About the Job
- Receives delivery orders from the truck dispatcher, organizes delivery route to include all preparations for delivery, and calls dispatcher or leaves message on recorder after each delivery.
- Following the Department of Transportation safety specifications performs pre-delivery trip check on tank truck and fuels, inspects truck for general operating requirements, and ascertains that all required equipment is available and in good operating condition.
- Drives a tank truck & trailer or tractor/ trailer to the customer’s location, connects the hose to the tank and opens valves, reads gauges, records amounts delivered, and leaves delivery ticket receipt with the customer. Loads trucks and/or trailers at designated facilities following all rules and regulations for each facility.
- Returns to the terminal at the end of the workday and completes post-trip truck inspection to determine if repairs are necessary. Accurately completes all regulatory and customary paperwork.
- Establishes/maintains good customer service and rapport while handling customer’s questions or schedules. Calls customers before loading/leaving the load rack to ensure the customer is able to receive the load. Answer inquiries as appropriate and/or refer customers to the trucking supervisor for assistance.
- Maintains assigned work areas, tank truck vehicle, and/or its equipment in a clean and orderly manner performing housekeeping chores as required and/or directed.
- Follows, maintains, and adheres to all safety rules and regulations for ships, loading docks, customer premises, traffic laws, rules, and DOT regulations. Follows all environmental procedures and reports all safety and environmental incidents and concerns immediately to the supervisor.
- Will perform minor work on vehicles as needed, i.e. change light bulbs, replace discharge valves, hose ears, etc.

- Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
- Must Possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Type A with TX endorsements.
- At least three years of experience as a professional truck driver in a Type A Vehicle.
- At least three years of experience driving a manual transmission (on either a CDL A or B vehicle).
- Petroleum or transporting liquids experience preferred.
- A clean driving abstract for the last five years.
- General mechanical knowledge and skills.
- A working knowledge of math is required. Must be able to perform routine mathematical calculations.
- Must be available to work overtime as needed and be able to commit to DOT “Hours of Service” with Par Hawaii.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
- Good communication skills, ability to work with deadlines, organizational ability, and problem-solving.
- Ability to work in difficult conditions and with situations that involve customers, operations, and emergencies.
- Must have or be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 30 days
