Reports To: Fresh Cut Manager
In this Assistant Manager role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our guests have access to delicious, freshly cut fruit and veggie platters—perfect for daily meals, gatherings, and special occasions. You’ll support the Fresh Cut Manager in guiding the team and keeping the fresh cut department stocked, organized, and ready, so our guests can rely on us for their entertaining needs. Your leadership will help maintain quality, efficiency, and exceptional service, ensuring our guests keep coming back for their fresh, convenient options.

What You’ll Do:
As a Fresh Cut Assistant Manager at Festival Foods, your responsibilities will include:
- Foster a Positive Environment: Reinforce the Festival culture, guest service standards, and performance expectations to all Fresh Cut associates.
- Train and Develop: Assist in training new Fresh Cut associates to ensure a knowledgeable team.
- Document and Address: Document violations of company policies/procedures and conduct progressive disciplinary actions as necessary with Fresh Cut associates.
- Provide Guidance: Answer questions and provide support to all Fresh Cut associates to promote their success.
- Ensure Standards: Monitor and ensure that all department standards are met within the Fresh Cut department.
- Optimize Conditions: Observe sales floor and cooler conditions, taking action to correct any areas of opportunity.
- Manage Inventory: Maintain appropriate inventory levels and ensure accurate pricing on products received and sold.
- Collaborate Effectively: Communicate and work cooperatively with the Store Director, Produce Department Manager, and Fresh Cut associates to maintain standards and exceed guest expectations.
- Oversee Sanitation: Ensure all sanitation protocols within the Fresh Cut department are adhered to.
- Deliver Excellent Service: Provide outstanding guest service and assist guests in finding items throughout the store.
- Resolve Issues: Address guest concerns and resolve issues when a guest is not satisfied with the service or product received.
- Lead by Example: Assist all department associates with daily responsibilities while modeling expected behaviors.
- Support Growth: Develop associates to prepare them for advancement opportunities.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Contribute to the overall cleanliness of the department by organizing and cleaning work areas, shelving, and the sales floor as needed.
- Track Food Safety: Maintain food safety logs to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Meet Quality Standards: Ensure all quality standards are met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 AM and 5 PM.
- Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule and provide adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
- Support the Team: Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
To succeed as a Festival Foods Fresh Cut Assistant Manager, you should have:
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and associates.
- Effective Communication: Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to handle a diverse team in a stressful environment.
- Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper lifting techniques and box cutter safety.
- Equipment Proficiency: Ability to use equipment such as a power jack, walk-behind lift, WAV, baler, and compactor.
- Certification: Must have a WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival will cover certification costs if not already certified).
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

- The associate must possess the ability to stand in place for long periods of time; work in a cooler, walk in the store; bend, stoop and kneel regularly.
- The associate must have full range of upper body motion in order to lift product. Requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
- Must possess functional sensory abilities in order to visually monitor the store, create attractive displays, and to operate equipment.
- The position requires the associate to lift up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
Work Schedule:
The Fresh Cut Assistant Manager position is a full-time hourly role. The work schedule will include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
