Piedmont Global Language Solutions (PGLS) serves the global community and the local Metro Washington DC area by providing a range of language services, including interpretation, translation, transcription, language instruction, cultural sensitivity training, and localization. Our team of language professionals is proficient in over 200 languages, including regional dialects.
PGLS is seeking Freelance Interpreters for IN-PERSON educational and medical interpreting in the Boston, MA area. These are "1099" (Independent Contractor) positions requiring on-site interpretation.
Interpreter Functions:- Facilitate communication between individuals with diverse voices, accents, and speaking styles.
- Deliver clear and accurate interpretations of verbal exchanges without additions or omissions.
- Interpret questions, answers, statements, and other verbal communications.
- Provide sight translations of documents as needed.
- Convey the speaker's intent, emotions, and tone from the source language to the target language and vice versa.
- Notify relevant parties of any factors that may affect performance.
- Adhere to applicable ethical standards and guidelines.
- Possess a valid US driver's license or another government-issued ID.
- Minimum of two (2) years of interpreting experience, paid or volunteer.
- Two (2) professional references or one (1) reference and one (1) letter of recommendation.
- Native-level proficiency in English and another language.
- Certification from a 40-hour medical interpreter program or equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of interpreting experience in a healthcare setting.
- Two (2) professional references or one (1) reference and one (1) letter of recommendation.
- University degree in Interpretation.
- Certificate of professional interpreter training (minimum 40 hours).
- Certifications.
- Test results from recognized organizations.
