Our client is a leading fashion brand dedicated to creating stylish and high-quality clothing for girls. Their mission is to empower young girls to express themselves through fashion and feel confident in their own style. They are looking to add a Freelance Girls Designer to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$35/hr
Position Overview:
As the freelance Girls Designer, you will be responsible for creating and developing clothing and accessory designs specifically tailored for infants, toddlers, and children. Your role involves staying updated on the latest trends, understanding children’s preferences, and translating them into innovative and appealing designs.
Responsibilities of the Freelance Girls Designer:
- Collaborate closely with the Design Director to establish the seasonal framework while ensuring that commercial objectives and creative concepts line up.
- Create seasonal color palettes by identifying important color trends.
- From conception to production, supervise every step of the design process, including sketching, sample creation, fabric and trim development, fittings, and working with important suppliers to manage their sketch development.
- Ensure that clothing satisfies the construction, fit, and comfort standards for its category.
- Make clothing specifications and tech packs for designs.
- Ensure that line sheets and design records are kept current.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the raw materials, finishes, and washes unique to the clothing product.
- Collaborate with Sourcing to get the intended result.
- Interact with local and international merchants and sellers, licensees, and brands.
- Throughout the design creation process, supervise the approval of the print, textiles, and trims.
- Make unique designs based on trend analysis, consumer and market research, and more.
Qualifications for the Freelance Girls Designer:
- 5 years of experience in apparel with a focus on children’s clothing.
- Strong color expertise.
- Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, construction techniques, and trim.
- Expertise with Adobe Suite – Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
