Summary
Oversees the Fraud and Investigations staff and leads critical projects in the Risk Management area related to complex fraud investigations and loss prevention. Provides guidance corporate-wide on fraud impacting the credit union on our members.
Essential Functions
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; managing performance; rewarding and coaching associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Provides management and professional leadership to fraud and investigations staff and leads various fraud risk-related projects as determined by the VP of Risk Management.
- Interacts with Credit Union management including Supervisory Committee and external organizations on complex and sensitive investigations.
- Provides solutions and makes recommendations for improving control environments, policies, and procedures to reduce fraud.
- Utilizes thorough knowledge of financial and other products and services applicable to investigations, loss prevention, and general risk management to identify key issues, propose solutions, and complete related responsibilities and assignments.
- Evaluates critical loss prevention and risk management tools for use in all areas of the Credit Union. Sponsors or leads the effective implementation and ongoing maintenance and advancement of these critical tools.
- Maintains relationships with key leaders and peers in the law enforcement and loss prevention areas to stay current on emerging risks and threats affecting OneAZ and it’s members and to expedite the exchange of information.
- Monitors investigations quality and productivity and provides periodic reports to the BSA Officer and leadership.
- Consults with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies regarding fraud cases. Compiles detailed reports on these cases and files reports with law enforcement to enhance prosecution of offenders and recovery of assets.
- Testifies at court trials of offenders to increase chances of effective prosecution.
- Prepares monthly Investigations reports for the Supervisory Committee.
- Assists with the annual BSA audit and regulatory exams.
- Prepares and delivers fraud management program results to the Supervisory Committee.
- Provides fraud guidance and training to all associates.
- Supports other team members and performs additional duties as required.

Education
H.S. Diploma Required
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Businessor equivalent work and educational experience required
Experience
5-8 years similar or related experience in fraud investigation, loss prevention and regulatory compliance experience within the financial services industry, including leadership and management/supervisory responsibilities Required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of financial and other products and services applicable to investigations, loss prevention, and general risk management.
Strong knowledge of various banking regulations including but not limited to Regulation E, Reg CC, Reg D and various lending regulations.
Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements related to Bank Secrecy Act-Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) rules, other related regulations, and security requirements.
Strong written/verbal communication skills.
Licenses/Certifications
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), CUSFE)).
One (1) or more related professional designations. Required
