Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct product failure/accident analysis and support/conduct field investigations of incidents involving all types of mechanical equipment (e.g., vehicles, construction equipment)
- Perform calculations, engineering analyses, computer analyses and simulations, and technical reporting
- Investigate the design, safety, and failure of mechanical equipment and/or their constituent components
- Lead in-house metrology laboratory; process data in creating drawings and analyzing data
- Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and written
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/courses; reviewing professional publications and standards; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Regular and predictable physical presence in the office when not on sites
Position Requirements:
- B.S in Mechanical Engineering required
- Degree from ABET accredited program
- MUST HAVE a minimum of two (2) years work experience in product development or testing
- E.I.T. strongly preferred
- Once eligible, complete requirements to obtain P.E.
- Mechanical system design and development process experience required
- Safety standards / compliance background
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Computer skills with spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software
- Computer aided drawing (CAD) skills
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to present findings clearly, in verbal and written format
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time, largely locally/regionally
- Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to drive to site locations
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
