Dietetic Technician - Long Term Care
Position Specific Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Screen, assess and make nutritionally appropriate substitutions on meal tickets for residents at St. Mary Health Care Center under supervision of Registered Dietitian.
- Participates in implementation of individualized plans for nutrition intervention in accordance with the resident’s medical program goals and objectives, nutrition prescription, and self-management training.
- Reassesses the nutrition care planning and implements changes as indicated.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team by communicating resident and patient's nutritional needs and
- issues.
- Assesses and directs concerns and complaints from patients, residents, families, co-workers and staff on assigned skilled units.
- Maintains quality assurance and patient and resident records accurately in designated databases.
- Responds to requests and questions from patients or representatives and physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and nursing unit staff.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of departmental and corporate policies as they pertain to the position, including fire and disaster plans.
- Performs essential functions and provides support for Nutrition Care Representatives as needed.
- Acts as a reference for Nutrition Care Representatives, food service supervisors, hospitality associates, and kitchen staff.
- Communicates pertinent resident and patient information to nutrition service representatives to ensure meal service needs are met.
- Assists with interpreting physician generated diet orders into meal plans.
- Attends departmental and other meetings as required, including in servicing specific to St. Mary Health Care Center.
- Quality Control
- Provides for patient/resident/customer safety by assuring a safe environment.
- Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives and monitors for Clinical Nutrition Services at St. Mary Health Care Center
- Understands and is watchful of department standards. Observes for and reports infractions.
- Performs multiple tray evaluations monthly and documents and relates outcomes appropriately.
- Participates in maintenance of all departmental quality assurance records and monitors.
- Initiates opportunities for improvement.

• Culinary Team Members: Our Team Members start their Culinary Career learning the front and back of the Dining Services Industry. In a hospitality driven, multi dining outlet setting, you will perform duties to include plating, set up and tear down of café, restaurant, retail areas, or assist in kitchen to include prep, dish room, dry stock and perishable food inventories and sanitation. Must bring a strong work ethic, a SMILE and enjoy working in a TEAM environment.
• Patient Food Servers: Our Team of Dietary Aids ensure our patients receive AMAZING in-room meals with unexpected service and smiles! Under the guidance of our Clinical Dietitian staff, our Dietary Aids ensure compliance with patient dietary instructions. Our servers assist with meal selection, tray set up, delivery and removal of food trays with strong focus on HOSPITALITY and demonstrating compassion and amazing service to our guest Patients.
• Line and Prep Cooks: Prepare and present DELICIOUS meals and IMPRESSIVE presentations following our Executive Chef Menus. Ability to inventory and portion ingredients. Additionally, assist in kitchen to include prep, dish room, dry stock and perishable food inventories and sanitation. Experience in resort would be ideal but willing to train the right person with a passion for food.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This can be full or part-time and provides very flexible schedules. Hospitality experience is desired and a SMILE is required!
Requirements:
• Experience desired but we are willing to train candidates with a passion for food and understands the basics
• Ability to apply elementary mathematical statistics that would apply to inventory and portioning
