About the Job
The Food Service Worker is responsible for assisting with overall responsibility for the preparation and serving of meals for all patients, customers and staff, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the kitchen and cafeteria.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8th grade education required.
- One (1) year of food service experience preferred.
- Serve Safe Certification preferred. Must be able to read and write in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lbs, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and keep work equipment/utensils in proper operating function so as to provide a quality product with optimal safety.
- Adhere to standards set by the department for sanitation of all equipment and food contact surfaces.
- Adhere to standards set by the department for food storage, handling and portioning of all foods.
- Document and complete required QA logs and perform corrective actions as required.
- Responds promptly to customer requests, provide excellent customer service and collaborates with other departments throughout the organization.
- Provide on the job training to new employees.
- Kitchen: Set up and prepare tray assembly line by placing items ordered from the menu onto patient trays. Portion, wrap and label all cold foods needed according to tally sheets for cafeteria and tray line. Deliver bulk and individual meals between meal nourishments. Set up, serve and maintain a clean work area for special functions, dining room meetings and resident dining rooms.
- Cafeteria: Clean cafeteria tables and chairs, set up coffee carts for hospital meetings as ordered, set up cafeteria with hot and cold food for all meal hours, serve food in appropriate dishes using set portion sizes. Set up, prepare, serve and maintain a clean work area for special functions and dining room meetings.
- Dish Room: Scrape cafeteria and patient soiled dishware. Operate dish machine by loading or unloading dishware. Distribute clean dishware and cart to the appropriate place through the kitchen and cafeteria. Remove trash, recyclables and sweep/mop floors.
- Pot and Pan Washer: Scrape, presoak, wash and sanitize all pots and pans. Pots and pans on dried on racks and free of moisture before being stored. Use appropriate temperature washer and sanitizing solution strength to assure cleanliness and sanitation. Maintain pot washing area in clean condition and odor free. Assist patient tray assembly by doing drop off floors when assistance is needed. While tray lines are running, scrape cafeteria trays. At conclusion of work shift drying racks, storage racks, floors, sinks and counter tops are left clean and orderly.

Salary Range: $15.61-$20.46/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
