Food Service Worker - Geauga Medical Center - University Hospitals

• Mid-Day/Evenings Shift
• Working every other weekend and holiday 

Position Summary

This position performs daily food service duties to meet customer and patient feeding deadlines, ensuring prompt, accurate, and polite service aligned with department and University Hospitals standards. Prioritizes the maintenance of a neat, clean, and sanitary work area, employing proper food safety procedures and efficiently using department equipment.

Essential Functions

• Performs daily food service related duties necessary to meet customer/patient feeding deadlines.
• Maintains a neat, clean and sanitary work area appropriate for food and service ware handling including mopping, sweeping and dishwashing.
• Uses department equipment in a safe, efficient and confident manner.
• Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures including proper food safety procedures.
• Stays current with training requirements and safety in-services.
• Serves internal and external customer needs promptly, accurately and politely utilizing department and University Hospitals service standards.
• Ability to work in advanced skill areas such as diet office and/or cashier.
• Strong ability to multi-task, cover multiple workstations and/or assignments.
• Has ability to train other employees.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

University Hospitals is offering a $1,000 sign on bonus, minus applicable taxes, for full time Nutrition Services Assistant hired externally. The bonus will be paid out in 2 installments, after 90 days of employment and after 1 year of employment.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Equivalent / GED Preferred

Work Experience

• Successful completion of Customer Service training Preferred and
• 2+ years Food service experience Preferred
• 2+ years Experience working with customers Preferred
• Previous cash handling Preferred

• Proficient in use of computers and systems used in Nutrition Services Preferred
