About the Job
JOB SUMMARY:
- Under direction, supervises the activities of a food service unit, i.e.; tray line, kitchen, or catering, special events, and dishwashing to provide quality food services for residents and guests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews menus on a daily basis.
- Prepares schedules for assigned staff.
- Gives suitable assignments and instructions to employees engaged in activities of a food service unit.
- Supervises the performance of assigned staff.
- Maintains and controls safety and sanitary conditions.
- Prepares required reports.
- Trains and counsels assigned staff on their job assignments.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
- Conducts and attends required inservice training.
- Does related work as required.
BASIC COMPETENCIES EDUCATION:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the job.
- Graduation from a four-year course at an accredited college or university with a major course of study in nutrition or food service management or completion of an approved Dietary Supervisors course.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five years of experience involving the responsibility for the operation of a major food service unit within a large institution.
