Must have a genuine interest in geriatric work and a willingness to work for the best interest of the facility. Have a positive, upbeat personality and work cooperatively with others.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a detailed inventory of in-house stock routinely; order all food and supplies necessary to efficiently operate the department within budget; and practices stock rotation when receiving food deliveries and placing new stock in department.
- Supervise or prepare and serve meals in accordance with planned menus and established portion control procedures; assist in ensuring proper and safe food handling, preparing and storing; supervise, assist and direct the daily cleaning duties to ensure a sanitary environment; and, perform all daily tasks in accordance with established Universal precautions and sanitary, safety and infection control procedures.
- Perform interview with all new Residents to obtain diet history information in conjunction with the RD; effectively communicate within dietary department to meet Residents' needs/preferences.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Position requires employee be capable of: bending, lifting, fine hand coordination, ability to distinguish smell, taste and temperatures, ability to professionally communicate with Residents, personnel and support agencies.
- Personnel functions of employees including completion of a functional department schedule; assist with scheduling coverage and changes; employee training, disciplining, counseling and supervising.
- Maintain Resident confidentiality; treat Residents with kindness, dignity and respect; knowledge of and comply with Residents' Rights and promptly report any Resident complaint to Administrator.
- Conducts all actions in a professional manner.
- Maintain habits of good personal hygiene; promptly report all accidents or incidents to the Administrator.
Administrative Functions:
- Assist the facility Dietitian and Nursing Department as necessary and implementchanges as required; review and process new diets and diet changes timely while coordinating and communicating with other departments as necessary.
- Supervise and assist staff to ensure menus are followed; ensure that meal quality and presentation are superior; ensure that Resident food preferences are honored.
- Assist in standardizing work methods and establishing food service production to ensure meals are prepared timely. Participate in departmental projects as assigned.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
