How you make a difference:
As a Food Service Manager, your responsibilities will include overseeing food preparation, service, and distribution activities to ensure efficient and effective operations. You will manage overall direction for all food service activities to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and organizational standards, implementing improvements to consistently achieve staffing, budget, and operational objectives. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of food, work areas meeting expectations of local health department, and the cleanliness and safety of the environment. Your work will be critical in ensuring that all residents/patients receive well-rounded and adequate nutritional food, and that staff are provided with adequate meals while working at the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures food services meet established guidelines while overseeing food quality assurance and controls in production, purchasing and overseeing all food, supplies, and chemicals within budgeted guidelines, and developing and monitoring patient menus including special diets.
- Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates all Food Service staff, prepares staff schedules, assigns job duties, and cross-trains to meet daily work production requirements, while overseeing all dietary and food staff in-services.
- Maintains inventory records per corporate guidelines, including weekly and monthly food/supply inventories and records necessary for department operation, while working with the Infection Control Consultant to ensure facility compliance with blood borne pathogens and other standards.
- Compiles monthly surveys and reports results, which are tracked and disseminated to make improvements based on findings.
- Interacts with the Health Department Inspector, completes and submits corrective action for quarterly inspections, and follows up as needed to ensure the dietary department meets all requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Culinary, Business Administration, or related area strongly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of supervisory experience in food service production in hospital, corrections, military, commercial or institutional setting.
Licenses/Certifications
- Certified Dietary Manager registration is required. Must have and maintain a sanitation and foodhandler’s certificate. (Serv Safe Certification)
