Food Service Cook - Mayfield Elementary - Mayfield Independent Schools

JOB TITLE:  Food Service Assistant or Cook

RESPONSIBLE TO:  School Food Service Manager

GENERAL DUTIES:  The Food Service Assistant completes duties related to the preparation, serving, and receiving of food and sanitation of equipment and facilities as assigned by the cafeteria manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:  High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Must have ability to follow oral and written instructions.   Facility in arithmetic.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1.  Implements defined standards of sanitation for personnel, food preparation, kitchen equipment, and physical plant
2. Identifies and performs the basic first aid techniques necessary in emergencies that arise
3. Performs accepted procedures for operating, cleaning, and caring for each major piece of equipment
4. Performs accepted procedures for using, cleaning, caring for and storing knives and potentially dangerous small equipment items
5. Demonstrates the use and operation of fire extinguishers for each type of fire
6. Reports accidents and refers potential safety hazards to the manager
7. Participates in  the preparation of food  within an established production system following standardized recipes, preparation and serving methods, and food handling techniques to ensure acceptable standards
8. Demonstrates recommended methods for measuring and/or weighing ingredients
9. Demonstrates understanding and use of standardized recipes
10. Exhibits familiarity with all basic equipment pieces
11. Demonstrates ability to schedule time to complete food preparation
12. Follows established procedures for service and distribution of meals
13. Participates in preparation and service of planned meals for special functions
14. Maintains required forms and records as assigned
15. Demonstrates familiarity with portion sizes, servings per unit, count or size, and expected production capacity per recipe
16. Assumes responsibility as food service employee, follows work assignments, and maintains work station
17. Demonstrates the ability to work with fellow employees and students
18. Demonstrates knowledge of Board regulations and procedures
19. Demonstrates comprehension of regulations and procedures
20. Participates in planned in-service training sessions
21. Attends relevant training classes and workshops
22. Demonstrates ability to follow up instruction in training sessions through performance
23. Recognizes the chain of command, grievances procedures, and levels of job responsibilities
24. Performs additional duties as assigned by manager
25. Assists manager as requested
