JOB TITLE: Food Service Assistant Manager -
TYPE OF POSITION: Classified, Hourly
REPORTS TO: Food Service Director, Building Principal
40 Hours a Week, 191 Work Days
POSITION PURPOSE: Supervises and coordinates the preparation and serving of food, and day-to-day operations in the back of the house, i.e. the kitchen area. Responsible for serving well balanced meals to our students according to the National School Lunch Program. Collaborates with the Manager to build an effective cross trained team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Provide the Manager with an accurate monthly inventory to support weekly ordering of food and supplies.
Supervises and trains kitchen personnel in safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
Plans, coordinates, and supervises all activities of kitchen personnel involved with meal preparation, meal serving, and cleaning and sanitation in the kitchen area.
Inspects food and food preparation to maintain quality standards.
Keep accurate daily production records as well as daily lunch counts.
Responsible for continual training of food service employees on food safety and sanitation.
Prepares and balances the daily deposits. Works with the Manager to ensure accuracy in daily accounting tasks.
Responsible for proper storing, labeling and dating of all food products to maintain quality standards, and sanitation regulations.
Confers with the Manager regarding any personnel problems.
Reports immediately to the manager any accident occurring in the kitchen/dining premises
Performs other duties as assigned by Food Service Director and/or CFO
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises food service employees in their building. Responsibilities include training and developing employees to prepare and serve meals in an efficient customer friendly manner. Support building good working relationships with students, teachers, and the building principal.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
