About the Job
We are seeking a Food Safety Specialist to provide technical expertise and implement practical food safety solutions at our Pompano Beach, FL manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements while supporting the integrity of our operations. Key Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing product and environmental samples, regulatory testing, sanitation oversight, Hold Registry supervision and 3rd part lab collaborations.
What You Will Do At Acme:
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to evaluate compliance with food safety programs.
- Perform daily equipment verifications, calibrations, and ensure proper maintenance of reference materials.
- Maintain up-to-date databases for environmental sampling and ATP testing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Manage inventory levels of food safety supplies (e.g., ATP swabs, sponges) and coordinate orders with vendors.
- Continuously improve environmental sampling and sanitation programs, aligning with best practices.
- Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual trend reports for environmental monitoring.
- Investigate and address root causes of food safety risks and out-of-specification results, implementing corrective actions.
- Lead and execute mass balance traceability exercises, internal audits, and inspections.
- Support third-party audits (BRCGS, BAP, MSC/ASC) and regulatory audits (state, federal, military).
- Develop and implement food safety training programs, including onboarding for new hires and annual GMP refreshers.
- Analyze food safety data to identify trends and develop action plans to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee the pest control program to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Collect and send samples for third-party lab analysis, managing communication and results.
- Maintain the Hold Registry, managing the hold-and-release process for finished goods and coordinating with relevant departments.
- Determine the disposition of returned products, coordinate disposal, and maintain detailed disposal logs.
- Ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of the microbiology laboratory.
About You
Your Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field required.
- 2+ years' experience of food manufacturing and food safety related work preferred.
- 2+ years laboratory experience preferred.
Your Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of FDA food regulations and HACCP.
- Proven excellent work record with demonstrated high levels of initiative and self-direction.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions and complete assigned tasks.
- Strong analytical skills required for data interpretation and analysis. Computer skills with Microsoft offices are preferred.
- Possess excellent communication skills, including verbal and written plus the ability to speak effectively before groups and communicate concepts, systems, procedures, etc., in a training environment.

- Completion of training programs as assigned and/or required including standard of work.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work in 38-degree temperature.
