The Food Safety Coordinator leads the Food Safety Team and oversees the facility Food Safety plan. Completes raw material and process risk assessments, monitors preventive controls, and ensures verification activities are completed. Oversees plant GMP compliance including Personnel Practices, Product Protection, Sanitation, Pest Control, Food Defense, and Allergen Control. Oversees 3rd party certification programs including Kosher, Halal, Organic, and Non-GMO. Completes routine internal audits to ensure policy, procedure, and regulatory compliance. Develops and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports findings to the operations team for corrective action.

Job Details
The Food Safety Coordinator leads the Food Safety Team and oversees the facility Food Safety plan. Completes raw material and process risk assessments, monitors preventive controls, and ensures verification activities are completed. Oversees plant GMP compliance including Personnel Practices, Product Protection, Sanitation, Pest Control, Food Defense, and Allergen Control. Oversees 3rd party certification programs including Kosher, Halal, Organic, and Non-GMO. Completes routine internal audits to ensure policy, procedure, and regulatory compliance. Develops and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports findings to the operations team for corrective action.
Essential Duties:
- Oversee the Food Safety Management System (BRC) to ensure compliance with all system requirements and supporting programs including Senior Management Commitment, The Food Safety Plan (HACCP), Food Safety Management System, Site Standards, Product Control, Process Control, and Personnel.
- Oversee Food Safety Plan to identify biological, chemical, and physical hazards and risks in raw materials and the production processes to implement preventive control to prevent, eliminate, and reduce these hazards and risks.
- Oversee 3rd party certification systems to ensure compliance with Kosher, Halal, Organic, and Non-GMO requirements.
- Oversee regulatory compliance programs to comply with local, state, federal, and international requirements.
- Develop, facilitate, and track new hire training and on-going GMP training.
- Support Supplier Approval Program to ensure requirements are satisfied.
- Lead Food Safety Team and perform internal audits and/or verifications of the Food Safety Management System on an ongoing basis.
- Lead and support regulatory, external, and internal food safety and quality audits.
- Support Document Control procedures, databases, and logs in an updated and accurate manner and implement all activities as required.
- Participate in root cause analysis on non-conformities and work with stakeholders to develop corrective action plans and verify their effectiveness.
- Develop and track food safety and compliance Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, manufacturing or related field from an accredited college or university.
- 5+ years of Food Safety and Quality Management System (GFSI recognized) experience.
- 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing.
- 5+ years of HACCP management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
- Ability to speak candidly and provide constructive feedback.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Demonstrated organization skills.
- Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred:
- 2+ years of audit experience (regulatory, external, and internal).
- 5+ years of experience in an analytical QA/QC lab environment for the food, pharmaceutical, or related industry preferred
