About the Role
The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is tasked with upholding Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management Systems to ensure the production of safe and high-quality food. The QA Manager acts as the SQF Practitioner, implementing policies and procedures in line with SQF standards.
Responsibilities
- Implement corrective actions and preventive measures for food safety issues.
- Supervise one QA Technician.
- Enforce established policies and procedures.
- Conduct daily documentation and records verification.
- Oversee cleaning and sanitation schedules.
- Investigate food safety incidents from customer complaints and production reports.
- Manage the Pest Control Program.
- Implement the Microbiological Program.
- Conduct monthly internal audits.
- Oversee the Foreign Material Program.
- Ensure compliance with product specifications and labeling.
- Provide food safety and quality training for new hires.
- Conduct operational inspections.
- Verify finished product weights for compliance.
- Monitor cooler temperatures.
- Ensure adherence to GMPs throughout the day.
- Implement maintenance documentation.
- Lead customer and third-party audits.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries.
- Facilitate inspections from the Agriculture Department.
- Manage product sampling for the State of Agriculture.
- Approve new ingredients and packaging.
- Support product development and launches.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of quality experience in food manufacturing (dairy preferred), with knowledge of FDA regulations and experience with third-party food safety audits.
- Food Safety Certifications: HACCP, SQF Practitioner, PCQI.
- Ability to maintain a positive work environment.
- Understanding of regulatory guidelines.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
Training in Farmingdale, NY may be required for up to 4-6 weeks.
