Food Preparation Workers and Prep Cooks Needed from Vanguard Temporaries, Inc.

We have open positions for Food Preparation Workers and Prep Cooks located in Jamacia, NY multiple shift times and positions available. This is full time positions paying $17/hour.

Prep Cook -Shift time: 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Makes specific work assignments in kitchen and pantry areas.
• Directs and/or may personally perform the general cleaning after each meal.
• Provides oral and written instructions regarding materials, utensils and procedures.
• Demonstrates proper preparation and cooking procedures.
• oversees and inspects performance to ensure instruction, procedures and standards are observed.
• ensures that proper sanitation and storage procedures are always followed.
• Carves and divides portions into individual servings.
• Bakes, roasts, boil, fries and steam food as called for in recipes.
• Arranges for distribution of food by placing service trays or packing food into hot boxes for shipment to separate dining areas.

Food Preparation Workers- Shift times: 

7:45 AM to 3:45 PM
3:45 PM to 7:45 PM
11:00 AM to 7:45 PM

Responsibilities:

• Cleans and sanitizes refrigerators and other equipment, by hand and equipment, using a variety of cleaning substances.
• Clean and sanitize loading dock area, garbage cans, storage areas, food preparation area and general kitchen area including floors, ceiling and walls using mops, scrub brushes and other equipment.
• Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans and other cooking equipment by hand and machine.
• Assist with delivery trucks and stores deliveries in appropriate storage areas. Maybe responsible for checking products upon delivery for proper temperatures and storage requirements.
• Transport food and other supplies to preparation and serving area as directed.
• Clean, weigh and measure fruits, vegetables, or serving areas as directed.
• Prepares simple foods such as sandwiches, hamburgers, and egg on the grill.
• Performs a variety of tasks in the area of food service
• Sets and waits on tables, assisting those individuals unable to feed themselves.
• Serves food in the designated portions to service.
• Ensures those individuals on special diets receive proper food and portions.
• Make simple food such sandwiches, toast, coffee, tea and salads as necessary.
• Record number of meals served.
• Cleans dining room and service area including furniture, woodwork, windows, floors and steam tables.
• Washes dishes and serving utensils by machine and hand.
