Position: Flight Nurse (RN)
Dept: CareFlight Air & Mobile Services
Shift: Part Time 7pm - 7:30am / 48 Hours per Pay
Facility: Miami Valley Hospital
The Flight Nurse functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The Flight Nurse utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to provide safe and rapid transport of critically ill or injured patients by air ambulance or mobile intensive care to a higher level medical treatment facility. The Flight Nurse provides advanced emergency/critical care during medical transport and may also provide nursing care for patients throughout Premier Health. This position also include public relations and medical education functions. Flight Nurse is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.
Education: Graduation from accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Valid Ohio RN license
The following certifications are required at the time of hire:
a. Current AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS
b. Certified EMT-B OR Professional Nursing Certification Preferred.
The following certifications are required within the specified time frame following hire:
a. 90 Days- ITLS or PHTLS
b. 1 year – NRP, ATLS (audit)
c. 2 years – CAMTS approved Nursing certification and Certified EMT-P in the State of Ohio
Experience: Minimum 3 years of recent, active RN experience in an Emergency Department or Critical Care setting. Previous Pre-hospital or critical care transport experience preferred.
• Special Consideration: If the candidate has a minimum of one year of previous experience with CareFlight Air & Mobile Services as a Paramedic, they must have an additional 4000 hours critical care experience as an RN in an ICU or an emergency department to be eligible to reapply to the program as an RN. This is in lieu of the above required 3 years’ experience.

o Must be able to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor
o Basic computer knowledge
o Strong organization skills
o Effective interpersonal and communication skills
