Description:
The City of Fishers is seeking a skilled Fleet Technician / Auto Mechanic III to join our Fleet Team. A Fleet Technician III performs skilled diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work on City vehicles, equipment, and trailers. Work requires a degree of technical knowledge as well as the ability to exercise independent judgment on determining the method of repair. Work involves performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing issues along with maintaining a high level of safety. This role works with the Fleet management team to ensure compliance of all federal, state, and local laws and guidelines. This position may assist in the planning, assignment, and scheduling of workflow.

Our Team maintains a mix fleet of over 1,300 assets, that includes economy cars to class 8 dump trucks, Police vehicles to Fire Engines as well as line trimmers to wheel loaders. Examples of Duties:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on City vehicles, equipment, and trailers.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures.
- Perform general repair of various types of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform welding and metal fabrication.
- Perform road service and field repairs, as necessary.
- Work in a team environment and assist other team members as needed in the completion of assignments.
- Assist technicians as needed on complex diagnostics and repairs.
- Assist management with quality control.
- Trains other technicians to perform vehicle repairs.
- Prepare new vehicles for service and decommissions vehicles as they are removed from service.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and service records in City software.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and tools.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Valid commercial driver’s license or ability to obtain CDL within one year with city provided training;
- Must be able to be insured to drive city vehicles;
- 8 years of industry work experience;
- Section 609 EPA standard air conditioning service, repair and freon recovery certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment;
- Master ASE or equivalent industry master certifications required;
- One or more EVT certifications required;
- Must have own tools;
- This role requires the ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary for on-call assignments, emergencies, weather related events and other city related needs.

- Master ASE Technician $1,000.00 Annually
- Master Industry Approved Technician $1,000.00 Annually
- ASE Certification $250.00 each test
- ASE Re-Certification $250.00 each test
- Industry Approved Certification $250.00 each test
- Industry Approved Re-Certification $250.00 each test
