The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Fleet Services Department. This role includes managing a team of technicians, ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining high-quality standards in vehicle repairs, developing, implementing, and delivering training programs for diesel technicians, and fostering a safe work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive diesel and automotive repair knowledge, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, with occasional night and weekend responsibilities

Training:
- Design and develop training materials and programs tailored to the needs of diesel technicians.
- Conduct hands-on training sessions, workshops, and seminars on diesel engine systems, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures.
- Evaluate trainees' performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills and competencies.
- Collaborate with management to identify training needs and gaps in technician knowledge.
- Maintain training records and documentation to track progress and compliance.
Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead efforts to ensure complete and timely repairs and services, while meeting safety and regulatory requirements, of the Sunrise Transport, Inc. fleet of vehicles and Outside Customer repairs.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Review/audit work orders regularly to ensure the accuracy of information entered by Vehicle Maintenance Associates.
- Maintain accurate record keeping of vehicles, equipment, repairs, and services within the Fleet Service asset system (TMT)
- Set a consistent example for others in management effectiveness, leadership style, communication, and integrity. Lead by example, model Core Values and set a positive standard for performance to be followed by fleet service staff.
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily shop operations, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Monitor workflow and productivity to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Maintain an organized and clean shop environment.
Quality Control:
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed to company standards and industry regulations.
- Review and approve work orders and estimates before service completion.
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and maintenance records.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety training and drills for shop personnel.
- Reporting and Communication:
- Communicate regularly with the Fleet Manager regarding shop performance, challenges, and needs.
- Prepare reports on shop activities, including work completed, technician performance, and equipment maintenance.
What you bring
- Ideally, 10 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or knowledge equivalency
- Ideally, previous management experience in a similar work environment/industry
- Electronic diagnostic systems experience
- Working knowledge of refrigeration systems
- Adequate computer skills (Microsoft Office, Vehicle Maintenance Software, Dashboard systems, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, effectively plan and make sound decisions
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalency
- Class 7 State Inspection Certification
- Commercial Driver's License preferred with endorsements
- EPA 608 & 609 certifications is a plus
- Proven experience in training or mentoring technicians is preferred
