FLEET MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Overall Job Purpose of the job of "Fleet Manager” is to oversee the Santa Ana yard, manage the yard personnel, and the maintenance of the vehicles. This includes the scheduling of, the communication with various departments, and maintain various reports regarding vehicles and personnel.

- Maintain a valid California driver’s license
- Become School Bus cert and Commercial license by 6 month anniversary.
- Maintain a valid School and Commercial certifications.
- 10 years minimum management experience.
- 5 years’ experience in automotive industry
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Evidence of insurability, background, and drug testing Clearance.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- First Aid Certification
DUTIES:
MAINTAIN AND MANAGE A SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT
MAINTAIN AND MANAGE A SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT
- In accordance with JFK policies, state laws, and OSHA requirements.
- Identify, train, and advise team of unsafe maintenance conditions or practices
- Identify, train, and advise on vehicle abuse and best driving practices.
- Uphold OSHA standards and conduct routine safety audits.
- Perform safety inspections on vehicles and equipment.
- Inspect yard equipment. Including but not limited to: tools, compressors, lift, jacks
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
- Ensures that the work areas are kept clean.
- Ensures the proper care, storage and inventory of special tools.
- Address and report all safety issues immediately.
- All other assigned duties necessary to fulfill safety compliance and requirements.
MANAGE ALL: YARD STAFF, JFK VEHICLES, AND MAINTENANCE OF:

- Schedule yard personnel and maintain proper hours
- Trains, motivates, counsels and monitors the performance of yard staff.
- Monitors and controls the performance of the department using appropriate reports, tracking systems and surveys.
- Strives for harmony and teamwork within the department and with all other departments. Schedules and maintains the activities of all department employees.
- Focuses on team member retention by building relationships
JFK Vehicles:
- Schedule repairs with outside vendors
- Identifies and reports any additional maintenance and/or repairs found necessary inconducting assigned repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to conduct and oversee the proper fueling, greasing, servicing and lubricating of all JFK autos, and other internal compensation equipment. Including but not limited to: batteries, spark plugs, light bulbs, fan belts, and simple parts.
- Perform preventative Maintenance inspections/repairs/breakdowns
- Ensure Preventative Maintenance schedules are completed within scheduled timeframe
- Directly assist the Mechanic with all logistics and fleet analysis (cost, inventory, maintenance schedule)
- Performs road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
- All other assigned duties necessary to fulfill the managing of yard staff and JFK vehicles.
MAINTAIN ALL NECESSARY RECORDS/REPORTS:
- Maintain accurate files, paperwork and records, and providing reports as necessary.
- Ensure all assigned reports are completed and filed appropriately within allotted time
- Using Bus Hive and various software to maintain, report, and record proper inventory levels: forecast, re-order, return, assign, and receipt verifications
- Record time spent, parts used on repairs/maintenance conducted.
- Document the registration, insurance of all new and existing vehicles.
- Prepare and maintain work orders: create, assign, close and maintain records
- Ensure staff completes all required maintenance reports
- Conduct Fleet analysis: life of vehicle and replacement of etc.
- Review DVIRs and delegate repairs
- Responsible for all expense reports and conduct price and quality evaluations
- Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.
- Keeping a record of accounts and financial information
- Overseeing post-repair services (vehicle delivery, test driving, etc.)
- All other assigned duties necessary to maintain records/reports.
ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, inspect and service various vehicles.
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 25-50lbs and stoop, crouch, reach/handle.
- Ability to hear conversations and other sounds (air leaks, rattles, etc.).
- Near/far visual acuity/depth perception.
- Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
- Sitting at a desk and performing simple office procedures including but not limited to: phone calls, data entry, emails, creating reports regarding vehicles and personnel.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- HazMat: record keeping/inspections
- Quarterly inspections

- Creating and maintaining IPP programs and reports
CHP: Maintenance record keeping for JFK purpose
- DVIRs
- Maintenance
- Perform Vehicle registration, insurance and documentation/renewals, including induction of new vehicles in existing fleet
- Conduct inspections 292 (School Bus renewal certificate)
- Meet with CHP for physical inspections of all School Buses/SPAB
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists other personnel in various departments as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- May have to oversee or help in the proper installation of chains for the purpose of safely transporting students in wintry road conditions.
- Knowledge of vehicle operation, basic maintenance requirements and driving codes.
- Communicate with Internal Office regarding status of vehicles
- Create and maintain effective systems to enhance communication and productivity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
