Job Title: Fleet Manager/Maintenance – Asphalt and Concrete Operation
Location: Tampa
Seeking a highly skilled and detail oriented Fleet Manager to join our team in Tampa Bay, FL! This reputable company offers career growth potential and stability. With their growing presence in the area, they lead in paving projects and site development which include land clearing, underground utilities, concrete, and demolition.
Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the effective management, maintenance, and optimization of all vehicles, equipment, and machinery used in the asphalt and concrete operations. This includes ensuring that all company assets are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. Requiring strong leadership, technical skills, and the ability to coordinate with various teams to keep the fleet and equipment in optimal working condition while minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance and servicing of all trucks, machinery, and heavy equipment. Implement/maintain preventative maintenance programs, planning & scheduling services in advance, track operational costs, & manage fleet inventory.
- Maintenance Coordination: Plan & coordinate maintenance repairs & services with internal staff & external vendors. Conduct regular machinery inspections, maintain a maintenance activity log, & work closely with internal partners to forecast equipment needs.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all equipment/vehicles meet the required safety standards, develop and enforce safety protocols, conduct safety training and regular audits.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Prepare/manage the fleet maintenance budget, analyze maintenance costs, negotiate contracts with suppliers.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of mechanics/technicians/support staff, provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Asset Management and Reporting: Maintain a detailed asset management system, generate regular reports on fleet performance & provide insights to senior leadership, recommend fleet upgrades/replacements/retirements based on performance data.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Fleet Manager or Maintenance Manager in a heavy-duty industry, preferably within the asphalt and concrete sector.
- Understanding of DOT, OSHA, and other relevant safety and compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs, asset management systems, and cost control strategies.
- Proficiency with fleet management software and systems.
- Valid driver’s license and commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy equipment and working outdoors.
- Willingness to travel to different job sites and facilities as needed.
