Fleet Maintenance Technician
Location: Houma, LA
T. Baker Smith, LLC is seeking a motivated individual who specializes in equipment service and maintenance. Thisposition will be primarily responsible for the preventativemaintenance, repair, and general care of company automobiles, boats, trailers, and other equipment to ensure TBS associates have the resources required to serve the firm’s clients.
The Opportunity:
- Performs preventative and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and vehicles, responsible for determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Communicates and coordinates with Field Crew Coordinator, Lead Professional, Project Managers and Party Chiefs on maintenance, upkeep, and operation of equipment.
- Receives requests for repairs and maintenance, coordinates repair and routine maintenance schedules with work groups within the firm, sets priorities, and determines feasibility of repairs.
- Orders and maintains appropriate inventory of automotive and equipment parts, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Performs all responsibilities in accordance with the TBS Best Practices, and the Health, Safety, and Environment policy, continuously striving toward our corporate goal of no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to environment.
- Performs duties such as running errands, delivering equipment, and other maintenance tasks as needed or assigned.
- Performs other additional duties as assigned to ensure that value is being added to all projects by exceeding clients' expectations.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is generally outdoors and is exposed to the weather. Associate does ride in a boat and is frequently exposed to the noise, dust, smells, and other environmental factors present in such situations. Associate is required to drive vehicles and operate equipment.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- 1-3 years related work experience, plus training or certification in related fields helpful.
- Ability to maintain wiring and electrical systems on the boats and maintaining outboards and boat trailers.
- Knowledge and understanding of automotive mechanics, familiarity with various engines and electrical systems, tools, parts, and how to use them required.
- Ability to read technical manuals and instructions, and complete written reports and correspondence.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, ability to troubleshoot, and excellent interpersonal communication skills also required.
- Automotive or outboard engine maintenance experience will be considered (willing to do trailer work and ability to pick up on the light maintenance on other equipment very quickly).
- Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain license.

Position Purpose

Essential Functions
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

• Performs duties such as running errands as needed or requested, unlocks buildings, cuts grass, and performs other maintenance duties as requested or assigned.
• Performs additional duties as assigned or expected to ensure that value is being added to all projects by exceeding clients' expectations.

Supervisory Responsibilities
May directly supervise other Operations Support Technicians.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand; walk, balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds; use hands to operate, handle, maneuver and/or manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; use manual dexterity to operate equipment; talk and hear and detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness; specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
