About the Job
Fleet Maintenance Technicians are responsible for maintaining and repairing transportation delivery equipment used for the
delivery and unloading of merchandise at Chick-fil-A restaurants.
The Fleet Maintenance Technician—Class C is responsible for
servicing a broad array of equipment, including heavy duty tractors, refrigeration units, insulated trailers and hydraulic liftgates
in a safe, orderly and timely fashion to maximize equipment availability for delivery.

- Perform duties by following the Chick-fil-A safety standards.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment.
- Ensure tractors and straight trucks have sufficient supply of diesel exhaust fluid to perform deliveries.
- Maintain accurate and thorough fuel and diesel exhaust fluid dispensing records in accordance with applicable
tax, safety, and environmental regulations. - Wash tractors, trailers, and straight trucks on a regular basis to maintain cosmetic appearance, remove debris
which could affect equipment operation and to maintain sanitary conditions in which to transport food. - Operate environmental, health and safety equipment while performing duties related to vehicle fueling and
washing. This may include but is not limited to gray water capture equipment and vapor recovery systems. - Clean up spills and residues according to safety policies and procedures in designated work areas. This
includes but is not limited to diesel fuel, diesel exhaust fluid and soap used in washing vehicles. - Be willing to work with peers to train on technical requirements in all aspects of Fleet Maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems with qualified technician.
- Complete thorough documentation and work orders for repairs in the Fleet Maintenance Management
System - Perform preventative maintenance such as battery inspection, equipment lubrication and parts replacement.
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as
power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, drill press and jacks and hoists. - Raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Immediately communicate problems with Supervisor
- Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
- Adhere to Federal Motor Carrier Guidelines
- May be required to operate a company vehicle to assist in repair or P/U and delivery of fleet units and or parts.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work in a safe manner according to company policies and federal, state, and local regulations
- Other duties as assigned
- Must acquire EPA 608 & EPA 609 Licenses within 12 months of hire.
- Willingness to train in all aspects of Fleet repair, including Technology platforms such as Cummins Insite,
Bendix ACOM. Also be willing to participate in any vendor led training. - Working knowledge of transportation equipment, fuel use and diesel exhaust fluid use
- Demonstrated ability to complete job tasks in a safe, thorough and timely manner – including the operation of
safety and environmental equipment and wearing personal protective equipment. - Demonstrated ability to perform job duties according to policy and procedure without exception.
- Willing to learn fundamentals of transportation equipment maintenance and acquire related industry or
government certifications (e.g.: ASE, EPA 608/609, etc.) to progress responsibilities. - Willing to perform duties outdoors and under all weather conditions.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Fundamental math and arithmetic skills
- Ability to conduct oneself in a professional, courteous and customer service focused manner consistent with
Chick-fil-A culture. - Valid driver’s license to operate applicable company vehicles.
- Must be able to walk extensively.
- Must be able to climb stairs no less than 14 feet in elevation.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time usually for 8-10 hours.
- Must be able to lift 30-60 lbs. repetitively and heavier items weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally and
frequently push or pull three hundred (300) pounds. - Must be capable of following instructions, written and verbal and be a self-starter.
- Must be capable of working independently with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Must be capable of working in a mobile fashion to support transportation operations.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and shifts. Including on-call rotation.
- Class “B” CDL or willingness to obtain.
- ASE Certifications or willingness to acquire.
- Material handling equipment experience is a plus since a forklift is used on occasion.
