JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction, plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the activities of the Maintenance Department, including vehicle maintenance, vehicle disposal, budget development, procurement, fueling, maintenance, safety compliance, and fleet administration; provides high-level staff and technical support for company operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; establishes schedules and methods for the maintenance of the company fleet; implements policies and procedures.
- Directs a Fleet Maintenance Management Program for all company vehicles and equipment.
- Develops and administers a comprehensive preventative maintenance and repair program.
- Ensures safety and compliance is followed throughout all Maintenance and Repair departments company wide.
- Maintains inventory of materials, supplies, parts, and equipment for work requirements
- Evaluate services and identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate staff, assist with implementation of improvements.
- Prepares preliminary budget for operational and capital expenditures for Fleet Maintenance, monitors and controls expenditures.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates supervisors, technical and clerical employees.
- Monitors effective record-keeping systems; prepares technical and administrative reports and correspondence.
- Reviews employee performance reports for recommendations and personnel actions.
- Prepares periodic reports on routine operations and special reports/studies as required.
- Ensures fleet operations are in compliance with applicable DOT laws and regulations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of DOT Compliance regarding maintenance and inspections.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in fleet management and maintenance.
- Knowledge of methods of developing and implementing a comprehensive preventative maintenance plan.
- Knowledge of processes involved in the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of equipment and vehicles.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with preparing and maintaining a departmental budget.
- Knowledge of safety and compliance requirements on all aspects of maintenance and repair shops.
- Nine (9) years of progressively responsible work experience relating to maintenance, repair, acquisition and administration of a diverse vehicle and equipment fleet, four (4) of which were in a supervisory capacity, any equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience with large and or industrial equipment is strongly desired.
- Four (4) years of education at an accredited college or university in Automotive Technology or Business Management preferred.
- ASE Certifications preferred.
- Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
Physical Demands
This position is considered to be mostly sedentary and will require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. It will also require the employee to occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. They may engage in bending, stretching, reaching, and other motions in the course of a working day. They will be engaged in using office equipment and computers. They may engage in lifting supplies and materials up to 20 pounds from time to time. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
Working Conditions
This job is located primarily in an indoor office environment with varying noise levels. There may be varying degrees of temperature. The employee may be interrupted from time to time.
