Fixed Asset Accountant
Location: Hybrid – Downtown Pittsburgh
Salary: $50,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a passion for managing fixed assets? Our client is seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant to join their Accounting Division. This role offers a hybrid work environment after in-office training.
About the Role
As a Fixed Asset Accountant, you will collaborate with various departments to ensure the accurate recording and reporting of fixed assets in compliance with GAAP and organizational policies. You’ll also have the opportunity to cross-train on other accounting functions and contribute to the success of their financial reporting initiatives.
Key Responsibilities for Fixed Asset Accountant
- Reconcile departmental inventories of fixed assets and update records in JDEdwards accounting software.
- The Fixed Asset Accountant will prepare monthly disposal entries, asset transfers, and corrections.
- Record and analyze data for construction in progress, leases, financed purchases, and IT subscriptions per GASB standards.
- Calculate depreciation and prepare interim and annual financial statements for fixed assets.
- The Fixed Asset Accountant will develop, review, and implement policies and procedures related to fixed assets.
- Collaborate with fiscal staff to resolve accounting and asset-related matters.
- The Fixed Asset Accountant will conduct special research projects and stay informed on new accounting standards.
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with at least 12 credit hours in accounting.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with fixed assets.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (SumIf, SumProduct, and VLookup formulas preferred).
- Experience with accounting systems like JDEdwards is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively.
