Fitness Director
Under the general supervision of the General Manager, is responsible for managing the fitness program and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Recruits, hires and trains fitness instructors.
- Promotes a safe and fun environment for class participants
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper group fitness components and skill levels
- Establishes and maintains fitness program to encompass all ages and physical ability
- Works with community to promote health benefits of exercise
- Knowledge of a variety or particular group fitness class or classes.
- Knowledgeable in techniques and dynamics of group fitness.
- Provide excellent customer service to class participants and guests.
- Works to promote the fitness opportunities at facility with public
- Executes policies and procedures professionally and accurately.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment for patrons and staff.
- Responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the General Manager on time.
- Attention to safety, including facility, equipment and participants
- Attends staff meetings as assigned.
- Administrative duties including basic office functions and maintaining participant records
- Performs any other related or similar duty as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position can involve sitting, standing, walking, running, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Work responsibilities will be performed in a standard recreational facility.

- Attending programs during the day, evenings, or weekends.
- Some off-site promotion.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Standard office equipment that include, computers and software packages, fax and copy machines, telephones, cash registers. Standard exercise equipment includes weights, dumbbells, body bars, steps, fitness balls, and other equipment associated with use in a recreational exercise facility.
JOB STANDARDS:
- Experienced fitness instructor
- Management experience preferred
- Must have current Group Fitness related certification
- Must have a current American Red Cross CPR / AED certification or equivalent.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays.
