What you will be doing:
This Fish and Wildlife Technician 3 position will serve as a crewmember of the Westward Region commercial catch sampling team. The successful applicant will be responsible for sampling commercially harvested salmon in processing facilities and assisting project biologists in managing the entry of salmon data into the regional database. This position is staffed for approximately 3 months from June through August.

This commercial catch sampling position assists in the collection of biological data from commercial salmon harvest. The information gathered will be used to update or establish brood tables and escapement goals.

The working environment you can expect:
Commercial catch sampling work is performed on the docks and inside of commercial processing plants, often in confined, cold, slippery, and wet conditions. This position requires a flexible schedule that may include night work and is dependent on commercial fishing periods and processing plant operations.
Who we are looking for:
- Knowledge of salmon age, sex, and length sampling methods (including salmonid identification)
- Knowledge of planning and acquiring biological samples at fishery processing plants
- Ability to act both independently and as part of a team to accomplish project objectives
- Strong computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Special Note:
- Valid Driver's License Required.
- This position requires the ability to repetitively lift fish and gear up to 50 pounds.
- This position requires travel to remote processing facilities.
