Application Deadline: May 15, 2024
Include any certifications/diplomas you’ve earned prior to May 15, 2024, including: High School, and/or College/University Diploma, CPAT Certificate, EMT License, etc
Attachments are only required if you have earned the degree or certificate prior to the application deadline
Human Resources will email you when it's time to send in degrees/certifications earned after May 15 throughout the recruitment process
Written Exam: June 22, 2024
Sign up email will be sent to applicants on May 17, 2024 - review & follow emailed instructions
Virtual written exam can be taken anywhere/anytime on June 22!

Panel Interviews: August 2024
CPAT (Candidate Physical Agility Test) Completion Deadline: October 4, 2024
Completing the CPAT can take UP TO 6 WEEKS
Can be completed at any location
KFD reimburses up to $100 for CPAT completion for candidates who pass panel interview
Chiefs Interviews: October/November 2024
Finalized dates will be emailed to candidates
Job Offers: November 2024
Physical, Drug Screen & Psychological Exams: November/December 2024
Police & Fire Commission Appointment Approvals: February 2025
Start date: March 2025
Basic Recruit Training (BRT): March 2025 - Late May/Early June 2025
BRT Graduation: Late May/Early June 2025
Probationary period: First year following BRT graduation
Does KFD have residency requirements?
Yes, you must reside in the Wisconsin counties of Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, Walworth, or Waukesha or Lake County, Illinois by the completion of your one year probationary period.
Is this position represented by a Union?
Yes, this position is represented by Local 414 of the International Association of Firefighters (AFL-CIO-CLC) and is covered by a fair share agreement.
