The Fire Suppression Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire service division, including inspection sales representatives, service superintendents, service administrators, and service technicians.
This key leadership role is crucial for ensuring that the department operates efficiently, maintainsprofitability, and meets customer needs while adhering to industry standards. Additionally, this individualwill manage the department’s Profit and Loss (P&L) performance and drive project sales, particularly fortenant improvements (TI) and larger fire suppression projects.
Responsibilities
● Team Leadership & Management: Oversee and lead all service personnel, including inspection salesreps, set actions, and support their professional development.
● Operational Efficiency: Manage day-to-day service operations to ensure timely and efficientcompletion of fire suppression system inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Work closely withother department leaders to optimize resource allocation and operational workflows.
● P&L Accountability: Monitor and manage the financial performance of the service department. Trackrevenues, costs, and profitability to ensure that the service side meets financial goals. Developstrategies to improve service department margins and control expenses without compromisingquality.
● Project & TI Sales: While service inspections are managed by the inspection sales reps, the ServiceManager will focus on driving sales for tenant improvement (TI) projects and other larger firesuppression projects. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to generate repeatbusiness and identify new sales opportunities.
● Customer Relationship Management: Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining open lines ofcommunication with clients, addressing their concerns, and providing solutions to meet their fireprotection needs. Build and foster long-term client relationships to drive retention and servicecontract renewals.
● Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with the Service Superintendent and other keypersonnel to schedule jobs, assign service teams, and ensure all service activities comply withsafety standards, fire codes, and customer requirements.
● Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate current processes and procedures to identify areasfor improvement. Implement best practices that enhance service quality, reduce response times,and improve overall client satisfaction.
● Compliance & Safety: Stay up-to-date with fire safety regulations, building codes, and industrystandards to ensure that all work performed by the service team is compliant. Promote a culture ofsafety within the team, conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring all personnel are properlytrained and certified.
Qualifications
● Proven leadership experience in service operations, preferably within the fire suppression or lifesafety industry.
● Strong understanding of fire suppression systems, fire alarms, and fire sprinkler services.
● Demonstrated success in managing teams, driving sales, and overseeing financial performance(P&L management).
● Experience in selling tenant improvement (TI) projects and other large-scale fire protection projects.
● Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projectssimultaneously.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
● Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
