One of the regions quickest-growing MEP Engineering firms is currently hiring for an experienced Fire Protection Engineer to join their rapidly growing team. As a Fire Protection Designer, you will be assigned to work on exciting, large-scale projects within the Higher Education, Healthcare, Science & Technology, Government and Multi-Family/Mixed-Use market sectors.
Fire Protection Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- Design and specify building fire protection systems, such as combination wet pipe sprinkler / standpipe systems, pre-action sprinkler systems, and dry sprinkler systems.
- Design and specify advanced fire protection systems including clean agent, inert gas, and dry chemical systems.
- Design and specify fire alarm and smoke control systems.
- Development of technical fire protection and life safety reports as input to performance-based fire protection designs.
- Develop construction fire safety programs and fire protection system impairment plans to manage risks during construction.
- Perform field visits to document existing conditions and develop fire protection recommendations.
- Directly interfaces with client and Authority Having Jurisdiction.
- Perform code summaries for both new and existing buildings, including egress analysis.
- Creatively develops solutions to address project-specific challenges.
- Performs detailed fire modeling or egress analysis, as required, to support the technical justification of a solution.
- Participates in company-wide special projects (BIM, Standards)
Fire Protection Engineer Qualifications:
- 4+ years of fire protection engineering experience
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field required.
- Suitable industry experience (NICET certification or fire protection design / installation experience) may be evaluated in place of required engineering degree).
- EIT preferred; or the ability to achieve EIT within 12 months.
