Marathon TS is seeking a Construction Manager - Fire Protection Engineer (CM-FP) in New York, NY, onsite at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center (VAMC), who can provide both construction management and fire protection engineering expertise. The ideal candidate will possess experience reviewing design and construction plans against existing site conditions. Experience in the resolution of unforeseen site and design conditions/problems and propose cost effective technical solutions, as well as experience conducting inspections and inventories of such structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures.

Marathon TS is seeking a Construction Manager - Fire Protection Engineer (CM-FP) in New York, NY, onsite at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center (VAMC), who can provide both construction management and fire protection engineering expertise. The ideal candidate will possess experience reviewing design and construction plans against existing site conditions. Experience in the resolution of unforeseen site and design conditions/problems and propose cost effective technical solutions, as well as experience conducting inspections and inventories of such structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures.
Responsibilities:
- Provide design management and construction management support for restoration of the facility, related renovations, and new construction.
- Supports Project Managers/Senior Resident Engineers in monitoring project progress and identifies potential problems.
- Develops recommendations and strategies to address issues applying fire protection knowledge of current design and construction methodologies.
- Serves individually and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for data management, analysis, and support on complex project issues and problems.
- Applies fire protection and construction management knowledge to meet field needs while managing issues on several projects simultaneously.
- Assist the Project's Senior Resident Engineer in performing monitoring and inspection of construction for compliance with contract requirements.
- Monitor and advise the Senior Resident Engineer on coordination of contract issues and develop/maintain an integrated master schedule for the overall program.
- Compiles reports using various data to ensure accuracy and provides expertise on the development of metrics and solutions to mitigate risks associated with major construction projects.
- Draft and distribute project updates and facilitating team communication.
- Possess experience and the ability to liaise with project stakeholders about project requirements, timelines, and administrative reporting.
Required:
- The CM-FP shall have 5 years' experience practicing Fire Protection engineering.
- The CM-FP shall have 5 years' experience inspecting Fire Protection construction.
- Knowledge of all Fire Protection elements of commercial construction including but not limited to Life Safety systems, Sprinkler systems, Fire Alarm systems, HVAC systems, operations, and control systems including direct digital controls.
- Ability to provide cost estimates and take-offs for contract modifications.
- Ability to determine compliance of workmanship, materials, equipment and installed work with contract requirements and industry standards.
- Working knowledge and understanding of building, safety, and environmental codes.
- Working knowledge of environmental, civil, safety, architectural and structural fields.
- Shall have experience in reviewing design and construction plans against existing site conditions.
- Shall have experience in the resolution of unforeseen site and design conditions/problems and propose cost effective technical solutions.
- Shall have experience conducting inspections and inventories of such structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures.
- Ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.
- Ability to exercise good interpersonal skills.

- The CM-FP shall have 10 years' experience practicing Fire Protection engineering.
- P.E. license (any state).
- It is preferred, but not required, that the CM-FP shall possess experience working in the state of New York.
- It is preferred, but not required, that the CM-FP shall possess commercial healthcare experience and strongly preferred that the CM-FP possess healthcare experience supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Knowledge of governmental contracting procedures, principles, guidelines and public law.
- The CM-FP shall possess a degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.

- Occasionally required to move 5 – 15 pounds.

- Monday through Friday, Normal business hours 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Hybrid work agreement. Three days in office and two days remote. (current)
