The Fire Protection Engineer will be an integral part of the team. This person must be a team player, working closely with clients, team partners, and fellow staff to produce engineering drawings and documents. This person must have strong communication skills, be detailed oriented, and well organized.

The Fire Protection Engineer will be an integral part of the team. Position Responsibilities
Self-perform the following:
- Perform fire suppression and alarm engineering calculations, including hydraulic calculations and intelligibility calculations.
- Perform life safety code reviews.
- Preparation of construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with in-house and subconsultant specialists.
- Coordinate with other trades, such as architects, electrical, mechanical and plumbing engineers.
- Perform field verification of existing systems for renovation projects.
- Communication with manufacturer representatives to determine solutions for specific applications.
- Prepare design deliverables for various owner required submittals, i.e., SD, DD, CD level documents.
- Perform project construction administration including response to RFI’s, review of submittals, preparation of bulletins, review of contactor change orders, field visits and punch trips for installation verification.
- Review designs prepared by others as part of AEC’s QA/QC process.
- Attend meetings with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and other professionals as projects require.
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited university.
- FPE License.
- 5 - 15 years of fire protection engineering design.
- Working knowledge of design and analysis software such as Revit, AutoCAD. Knowledge with AutoSPRINK and EASE Evac a benefit but not required.
- Good knowledge of State and Federal Codes.
Proficient knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
- Ability to work and manage several projects concurrently.
- Experience in designing Federal, Healthcare, Commercial, Public Sector, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
