Salary: $21.70 per hour, ($73,454/average annual compensation)
Work Hours: 24.25 hours on-duty then 48 hours off
We are hiring an Industrial Fire Lieutenant with proven leadership experience in the emergency fire/EMS industry and a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a positive, collaborative work environment. You must be a willing teacher and coach, comfortable with rapidly developing changes, and know what it takes to instill a healthy sense of pride and ownership on your team and be comfortable in a command role.
Job Summary:
This position reports to the Battalion Chief (BC). The Lieutenant is responsible for supervision of the firefighters in the performance of routine and emergency activities during the assigned shift. The Lieutenant is a company officer but may be responsible for assuming the position of the Operations Officer or other positions in the ICS in response to emergency situations. The Lieutenant will support the BC in ensuring that all personnel assigned to the shift are trained and certified to meet their assigned tasks in ensuring that equipment and materials are operational and are tested in accordance with established procedures.
This is considered a safety sensitive position and is subject to both, the Company’s and the Client’s Industrial Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures shift personnel are assigned duties and responsibilities for which they have been trained and qualified.
- Ensures operational equipment is tested and available for use.
- Directs the shift in performing all required emergency preparedness and fire prevention activities.
- Directs the maintenance and accountability of emergency response vehicles.
- Follows established BASF EH&S policies, rules and procedures utilizing personal protective equipment as required. Reports all EH&S problems, violations or concerns to the appropriate individual. Attends basic safety training and other related or required courses.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Must have 5 - 7 years of progressive firefighting experience.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Meets the requirements of a Firefighter, and;
- NFPA 472, Hazardous Materials Technician
- NFPA 1021, Fire Officer I
- NPFA 1041, Fire Instructor I
- Has Incident Command System training (including NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800).
- Alabama Emergency Medical Technician or higher EMS certification
- Has current certification in CPR.
