Contract: 6 Months
Pay rate: 70+/hr
Job description:
• We are seeking a FinOps Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing cloud spend and providing cost-saving recommendations to the entire organization.
• You will collaborate with engineering teams, analyze cloud usage, and develop financial models to identify impactful savings opportunities.
• Additionally, you will work on cost visibility, forecasting, business insights, and reservation management.
• You will Collaborate with engineering departments (leadership and engineers) to coordinate cost reporting and evaluate the cost effectiveness of new initiatives. Utilize tools such as Datadog, BI visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Amazon Quicksight), SQL, and spreadsheets to build cost models and discover meaningful insights about cloud usage.
Explore new cost areas, toolsets, and visualizations to enhance our team's ability to serve our customers.
Establish cloud economics tools and platforms based on industry best practices. Develop agency and program-specific frameworks for FinOps principles and provide financial recommendations for cloud usage.
Create and present financial models and reports.
Continuously monitor cost of services and perform Total Cost of Ownership studies.
Lead technical and financial analysis to determine the impact of cloud hosting and identify cost-saving design options.
Maintain knowledge of relevant cloud optimization techniques, best practices, policies, and procedures.
Assist in the development of billing and analytics engines for decision-making dashboards.
Provide training and drive user experience improvements for internal teams. Deliver financial reports on usage, monthly billing, and funding utilization.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of FinOps tools such as CloudHealth, Turbonomics, or Cloudability.
• Experience in building and operating financial control and analysis systems.
• Experience working with stakeholders and development teams. Education: BA/BS or equivalent (or equivalent)
Required Technical Skills:
• Minimum of eight years of experience Minimum of five years of experience with Cloud Systems (AWS - preferred, GCP, Azure)
• Minimum of three years of Cloud Financial/Economics experience
• Minimum of five years of experience working with senior business and product owners to develop business cases, perform value and TCO analysis, and identify and implement cost optimization techniques for cloud infrastructure and applications
• Experience in developing and presenting reports that quantify the cost benefits of different design options for running applications in cloud Experience using Cloud native optimization tools, such as AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Compute Optimizer, etc Experience using AWS Cloud Intelligence Dashboards (CUDOS, CID, etc)
• Experienced in cloud scripting and ETL languages in support of data analytics Development experience in AWS through use of AWS Console, CLI, and CI/CD pipelines, using but not limited to: Lambda, Step-Functions, Glue, Athena, S3 Prior experience optimizing infrastructure in AWS for cost efficiency.
• Experience architecting cloud workloads with cost as a key consideration.
What Will Put You Ahead:
• FinOps Foundation Certification Cloud Provider Certifications Prior experience in a FinOps specific role
Salary
70 - 75 /hour
