About the Job
Fundamental Mission:
The Finishing Engineer will be responsible to support and lead projects, process development and work groups to develop and solve problem on the finishing equipment’s for the Houston mill.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Lead Projects
- Run Trials
- Support technically Projects related to Finishing
- Visit and spend time on the shopfloor to understand and support our main customers that are the NA production lines
- Suggest, lead, and implement actions to reduce cost
- Suggest, lead, and implement actions to improve safety
- Suggest, lead, and implement actions to improve quality
- Improve process control and monitoring through the implementation of new tools
- Participate or lead work groups to improve process
- Train team members
- Make benchmarking through the group
- Build and entertain technical network in the group
- International travels opportunities (1-2 per year)
- Domestic travers opportunities (1 per quarter for Youngstown position and 1 per month for Houston position)
- Organize and make available the company’s technical knowledge
- Develop new tools and technologies for the 15-process related to finishing with strategical suppliers
- Report the technical results of finishing lines in NA in a monthly basis
- Support the ramp up of finishing line and continuous performance improvement
- Coordinate and support the performance and projects in the REGION and the benchmark between the REGIONS.
- Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Chemical engineering or related field is required
- 5+ years of surface treatment experience is required
- Technical knowledge in surface treatment or varnishing/painting processes
- Project management experience is preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
Travel Requirements:
- This role requires 10% domestic travel (about one a month to Youngstown, Ohio or Muskogee OK & 1 to 2 international trips per year)
- Regular Local travel to Vallourec sites within the greater Houston Area is also required
