Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) is a statewide nonprofit organization with a mission to end Veteran homelessness in Minnesota. MACV provides comprehensive programs in the areas of housing, employment, and legal services to support Veterans and their families throughout Minnesota who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. MACV operates a budget over $17 million annually and has a team of approximately 120 employees throughout Minnesota. The organization has office locations throughout the state, with administrative functions centralized within a headquarters office based in St. Paul.

Position Overview:
MACV is a statewide nonprofit agency with the mission of Ending Veteran Homelessness in Minnesota. This position will be responsible for assessing eligibility for MACV services or referring veterans to other community resources. This position will be the first point of contact with Veterans experiencing a housing crisis seeking assistance.
The Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) serves Veterans that are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of experiencing homelessness. This position is designed to support MACVs successful Financial Stability Program (FSP) by coordinating financial services across agencies, primarily between MACV and its contracted representative payee provider. This will include gathering client documentation, financial information, and acting as a point of contact for MACVs Financial Stability team. This position will also work to continue to integrate and increase the use of the Financial Stability Program within MACV and across the community. These services will align with the organizational mission to End Veteran Homelessness in Minnesota.

Primary Duties:
- Coordinate client information, including financial information and service needs with the contracted representative payee provider and other support staff.
- Act as the point of contact with MACVs contracted representative payee provider.
- Meet with Veterans and referring entities to discuss enrolling in the voluntary representative payee program, ensuring informed consent, and the appropriateness of services.
- Prioritize, coordinate, and respond to client inquiries.
- Gather client documentation and update client data systems, as necessary.
- Assist the FSP team with reviewing program referrals and determining level of priority and need.
- Assist with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for the use of FSP with other internal and external programs.
- Provide resources to Veterans and staff to increase client income or reduce spending.
- Guide clients in gathering documentation such as bank account statements, credit reports, and tax returns as needed.
- Assist Veterans with opening a checking or savings bank account, as needed.
- Attend supervisory, case conferencing, and other meetings as directed.
- Work with clients virtually, by phone, or in-person.
- Enter client data and notes into Salesforce CRM.
Key Skills and other Characteristics:
- Experience and comfort with entering and managing information within a comprehensive database system.
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills when working with clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with strict attention to detail.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of credit issues, budgeting, financial counseling, etc.
- Knowledge of direct clients services and necessary administrative duties.
- Works well on a team but can function independently.
- Veteran, or knowledge of Veteran issues, preferred.
- Knowledge of the challenges of homelessness, preferred.
- Knowledge of client tracking systems and database background.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Familiarity with VA benefits, Social Security, SOAR, and other public benefits
