Akumen is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Planning and Accounting Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various financial activities, including operations support, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. This role requires expertise in Unanet and contract pricing, as well as proficiency in invoice auditing and income statement preparation.
Responsibilities:
- **Operations Support:**
- Collaborate with various departments to streamline financial operations and processes.
- Provide financial insights to support business operations and decision-making.
- **Budgeting and Forecasting:**
- Prepare annual budgets and ongoing forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Analyze financial trends and variances, and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- **Contract Pricing:**
- Evaluate pricing structures for contracts and proposals, ensuring competitiveness while maintaining profitability.
- Review and assess contract terms to ensure compliance with organizational policies and government regulations.
- **Invoice Auditing:**
- Conduct thorough audits of invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Manage discrepancies and work with stakeholders to resolve any billing issues.
- **Financial Reporting:**
- Prepare and run income statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports for management review.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights on areas for improvement.
- **Compliance:**
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and accounting standards in all financial practices.
- Assist in preparation for audits, both internal and external, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
- **Timekeeping and Systems Management**
- Administer Unanet timekeeping, ensuring accuracy, proper permissions, and timely submissions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Unanet access and related inquiries.
- **Administrative Support**
- Assist with cash receipts, bank reconciliations, and company travel arrangements.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or related roles.
- Proficient in Unanet and Microsoft Excel; experience with financial reporting software is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of government compliance requirements is preferred.
