Job Description:  PES is seeking a Staff Accountant/Financial Generalist to join the team in their New Haven headquarters. The successful candidate will generate accurate financial reports and invoices, manage contract renewals, and maintain payroll. The ideal candidate will have high-level customer service and mathematics skills with a strong sense of urgency.  The candidate must also have excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.

The position offers a competitive compensation and benefits package and reports to the CFO.

Responsibilities: The candidate must:

• Generate accurate monthly accrual basis income statements
  

• Process accounts receivable for 50+ customers
  

• Process two weekly payrolls of over 100 employees each
  

• Generate certified payrolls for 5+ accounts
  

• Reconcile two bank accounts and loan statements monthly
  

• Make weekly payroll tax remittances to three states
  

• Process accounts payable entry and remittance for 10+ vendors
  

• Process a union benefits remittance monthly
  

• Maintain collection records and assist in collecting all monies overdue
  

• Create and maintain accurate job budgets
  

Requirements

Requirements:  The candidate will:

• Have 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping and customer service
  

• Hold a bachelor’s degree or have comparable professional experience, union environment experience preferred
  

• Have proficiency in accounting software (Quickbooks, etc.)
  

• Demonstrate strong analytical and professional communication skills
  

• Be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and without direct supervision
  

• Demonstrate the ability to meet established deadlines for all projects, reports and communications for all audiences both internally and externally
  

• Possess a “can do, will do” attitude with a drive to succeed
  

• Have strong attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking, and follow up skills
  

• Have technology and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Salesforce
