Your Role:
The Financial Controls Organization (FCO) Consultant role is responsible for the development of internal controls for critical high-risk financial processes and oversight of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx) compliance program. These responsibilities include establishing control frameworks for new corporate transactions and IT platforms (e.g. acquisitions, business combinations, divestitures, technology infrastructure, application deployment, etc.), supporting annual SOx and project scoping, developing and executing targeted training programs, developing and disseminating global process templates, and communicating results to management.
This role requires a strong working knowledge of SOx and integrated risk-control frameworks. The role will work closely with corporate Finance management, affiliate Controllers/CFO’s, global project leaders, process owners, Corporate Audit Services (CAS), IT, Ernst & Young (EY), and third-party service providers to influence and drive key decisions. The role will support the global organization in progressing the quality of financial processes and reporting, as well as guide project teams for proper integration of controls during stand-up. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of the FCO.
Your Responsibilities:
Development and Oversight of Internal Control Initiatives:
- Determine project scope and develop procedures for corporate transactions and implementations, affiliate processes, and shared service center assessments to ensure appropriate risk mitigation, control development, and identify opportunities for automation
- Provide SOx and internal control consultation on changes to controls (new, redesign, gaps, etc.). Understand the business environment, monitor changes, and assess the impact to the financial controls framework
- Assist with the development and ongoing monitoring of the global SOx project plan and materiality
- Liaise with FCO regional team members, CAS Coordinators and SOx IT Coordinator to coordinate program efficiently and resolve issues timely
- Participate in SOx Steering Committee meetings and Financial Controls Organization (FCO)/CAS/EY Coordination meetings
- Coordinate and influence CAS and EY on testing scope and approach and resolution of issues
- Conduct SOx and internal control presentations and training
- Address questions from stakeholders (see list below)
Provide SOx and Internal Control Consulting:
- Develop and conduct SOx and internal control presentations and training to corporate functions and affiliate staff
- Consult on SOx and internal controls, including issue identification and resolution, deficiency remediation, etc.
- Ensure consistency and standardization of control activities, and monitor completion of SOx requirements
- Identify, implement, and lead process improvement initiatives
- Assist in evaluation of certain global, regional and local third-party service providers, including initial due diligence and annual evaluation of internal controls and internal control reports (i.e., SOC 1, SSAE No. 18)
- Review and ensure all global EY management letter comments (relating to local statutory audits) are identified with action plans
Build Strong Working Relationships with Key Stakeholders:
- CAS (Coordinators for Business & IT) and SOx IT Coordinator
- SOx Process Owners and Local Coordinators
- Global Process Owners (Order-to-Cash (O2C), Purchase-to-Pay (P2P), General Accounting (GA), Fixed Assets (FA), Manufacturing)
- Shared Services Center Leadership and Regional Controllers
- External Audit Team (Senior Manager and other levels)
What you need to succeed (minimum requirements):
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Required Experience: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant. Minimum 4+ years work experience which includes public accounting experience. Strong knowledge of and prior experience with financial processes (e.g. O2C, P2P, Treasury, Manufacturing).
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and perform well under pressure
- Develop good relationships with the ability to influence within Elanco, third party service providers and external auditors
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

- Functional knowledge of IT General Controls (ITGC’s)
- Experience with large multi-national corporations
- Experience with SAP and GRC tools and Audit Software, preferably AuditBoard

- Location: Elanco Global Headquarters, Greenfield, IN. Hybrid work environment. HQ moving to Indianapolis, IN in 2025.
