Financial Analyst
SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst will drive the financial planning and analysis activities of the Financial Services Function. The position will support decision-makers throughout the organization and contribute to the financial health of the organization through insightful and actionable analysis. This position requires an individual with strong quantitative skills, a deep understanding of financial principles, and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
Major Activities:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans. This includes project management of forecast and budget deliverables from business partners; with responsibility to prepare presentation material for finance leadership and executive review.
- Monitor and evaluate actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances monthly and meeting with functional business partners to document variance drivers.
- Analyze financial results to identify trends with analysis and insight finance leadership.
- Responsibility for the financial planning system (Prophix) and financial master data. Maintenance master data in accounting ERP and dependent systems. Ensure the integrity of financial data by implementing checks and processes to verify accuracy and consistency. Maintain data cubes and financial reporting originating from the cloud based financial planning system.
- Evaluate capital expenditures (CapEx) and major investment opportunities to ensure alignment with long-term financial objectives. Support financial analysis and ad hoc financial data request in support of large-scale growth projects.
- Prepare presentation of content for executive team, partner ownership, and management committee (Board of Directors equivalent).
- Support providing of financial data to external partners: Assist with preparation of financial data to external consultants preparing annual state and federal tax filings. Prepare financial data for presentation to insurance providers, rating agencies, and government regulators. Support upcoming long term debt renewals, partnering with external investment banking partners.
- Own the long-range financial model for ten-year planning. Utilize excel functions and financial planning software to develop enhancements to current model. Prepare presentation content for presentation to executive leadership.
- Support tracking of actuals and forecasting of annual property tax, largest area of operating expense exposure for the enterprise.
- Participate in ad hoc monthly and annual closing activities.
- Other special assignments to support the continued efficiency of the Financial Services department.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- BS in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; advanced degree a plus
- Experience in energy industry a plus
- Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience
- Experience with cloud based financial planning software
- Familiarity with advanced ERP systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required for dealing with all levels of the organization and senior level representatives from ownership partners.
