About the Job
Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Healthcare Finance Analyst to support the DPH Healthcare Consumer Protection Unit. The Healthcare Finance Analyst will plan, implement, administer, and evaluate various programs and services. The DPH Healthcare Consumer Protection Unit seeks a highly motivated and organized Healthcare Finance Analyst to lead the healthcare finance section to start immediately. The ideal candidate for this position will have a background in health economics or healthcare finance and a strong commitment to ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in healthcare.
The DPH Healthcare Consumer Protection Unit (HCPU) works to reduce financial harms caused by the healthcare system including medical debt which burdens at least 1 in 10 adults in the County. This involves working with public, private, and community partners to develop policy recommendations, programs aimed at monitoring and preventing medical debt and unfair billing, and holding accountable institutions that may contribute to or exacerbate healthcare harms.
The position will start immediately upon acceptance and employment clearance and is initially funded through 10/7/24 with potential renewal.
Pay Rate-
$45.42/hr
Work Location:
Hybrid - 2-3 days a week in Los Angeles office

Duties:
- Develop and implement strategies to decrease healthcare associated financial harms
- Conduct analyses of healthcare finance and billing including IRS, CMS, all claims, audited financial statements, and other data sources
- Review, analyze, and monitor trends in hospital financial assistance
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with healthcare and health finance industry partners
- Prepare reports to share findings with internal and external stakeholders
- Bachelors degree or equivalent
- 4 years of experience analyzing financial data, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Masters or higher degree can substitute for some of the experience requirement
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid Class C California Drivers License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
