Financial Analyst | Logistics
The Financial Analyst is responsible driving the financial performance of the organization by analyzing costs, evaluating supply chain efficiencies, and providing insights to improve profitability. This position involves preparing financial reports, forecasting budgets, and identifying trends to optimize operational and financial outcomes within the logistics and transportation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profit margins across logistics operations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
- Identify and communicate key trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in developing and maintaining operational budgets and long-term forecasts.
- Monitor budget adherence and recommend adjustments based on business needs.
- Conduct variance analysis to assess performance against financial goals.
- Cost Optimization:
- Analyze transportation, warehousing, and supply chain costs to identify areas for savings.
- Collaborate with operational teams to implement cost-effective solutions.
- Track freight rates, fuel costs, and carrier expenses to evaluate cost efficiencies.
- Operational Performance Analysis:
- Assess key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, fleet utilization, and warehouse efficiency.
- Provide insights into logistics network performance to enhance profitability.
- Analyze inventory management to reduce carrying costs and improve turnover.
- Revenue and Profitability Analysis:
- Evaluate customer contracts and pricing strategies to maximize revenue.
- Assess the profitability of specific accounts, routes, and services.
- Support business development efforts with financial modeling for new projects or clients.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Assist with audits and prepare documentation for regulatory reporting.
- Technology & System Utilization:
- Use financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks) and logistics management systems to analyze data.
- Automate financial reporting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Support:
- Work closely with supply chain, operations, and sales teams to align financial goals with business objectives.
- Provide decision-making support through financial modeling and scenario analysis.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.
- Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within the logistics or supply chain industry.
- Familiarity with logistics systems and cost structures (e.g., transportation costs, warehousing fees).
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of logistics operations, supply chain management, and transportation processes.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
- Understanding of key industry metrics like cost per mile, load-to-truck ratios, and fuel surcharges.
- Familiarity with global logistics challenges, including tariffs, trade regulations, and currency fluctuations.
